One Sunday morning, Charo arrived at a park where the dog show was to be held.
There were so many dogs. All groomed up for the show.
Charo looked around and found Candy.
"Candy!"
"Charo! You're here. Thank you for keeping your promise."
"You're welcome. わー so many dogs. What kind of a show is this?"
"There are many types of dog shows, but for this one they judge our appearances."
"Then, you will win."
"It doesn't really matter. I hate being compared with other dogs."
Then, came Aunt Charlotte.
"Ah, there you are! Now why don't we get ready for the show? First of all, we need to get rid of this."
She reached out and began to untie the ribbon from Candy's ear.
"What are you doing? Chris gave me that ribbon for my birthday. Give it back!"
But of course, Aunt Charlotte didn't understand.
Merrily she had it for the trash can.
Candy barked so hard.
Startled, Aunt Charlotte let go of the ribbon and that moment, a gust of wind took it away.
"Oh, no! My ribbon!"
"Candy. I'll go and get it back."
Charo dashed off to follow the flying ribbon.
Candy looked worried, but Aunt Charlotte didn't notice.
Humming to herself, she took out a hat and put it on Candy, a big hat with a strange-looking monkey doll and an apple on it.
"Perfect. You look gorgeous, sweetie."
Meanwhile, Charo followed the ribbon into an alley, but lost sight of it.
He turned around a corner and...
"わっ!"
"Hey there, doggie!"
It was Sally, the funny bird.
He was struggling with something.
"あ! You are Sally!"
"What? Oh, sure, yes. You! You are... you are... you are... Well anyway, could you help me out? This thing around my legs. It got me while I was flying."
Charo looked at Sally's legs and... the ribbon!
"That's! That's my friend's ribbon. I was looking for it."
"Oh, well, good for you. You can have it, take it, keep it. Just let me go!"
"Thank you."
Charo carefully untied the ribbon from Sally's legs.
"Done! Now that was nice of me, wasn't it? Glad that I could help. See ya!"
With that, Sally flew away.
When Charo got back to the park with the ribbon in his mouth.
The competition had already finished and the award were being given.
Candy was on stage, but seeing Charo, she jumped down and ran up to him.
"You found my ribbon! Thank you, Charo. Thank you so much!"
"You're welcome. えっとー The show, did you win?"
"Not the first prize, but they're giving me an award, anyway."
"Good."
"Yes, that you didn't see me."
Candy relieved that Charo didn't see her in that ugly hat.
While Aunt Charlotte was lost in conversation with another lady, the two dogs managed to slip away.
When they got to Chris's hospital, they were lucky.
Chris, he just come out for his daily walk.
"Chris!"
"Candy."
Candy ran up to Chris and jumped into his arms.
Chris hugged her again and again.
"Huh? What's the matter, Candy?
Oh, I see. Somebody took off your ribbon, right? And your friend picked it up for you. Thank you, little pup."
Chris took the ribbon from Charo and tied it around Candy's ear, just as it was before.
"There. You look pretty. You really are the prettiest dog in the world."
Candy seemed so proud and happy.
Being reminded of Shota, Charo was a bit sad, but at the same time happy for Candy, too.
